Texas vs. UTSA Depth Chart Comparison and Prediction

Uncover the Texas vs. UTSA Depth Chart Comparison and Prediction. Discover surprising insights into talent and experience levels for an exciting game day!

Saturday, The Texas Longhorns will host UTSA after their huge win at Michigan. to establish an early season marque victory vs. the Wolverines.

This depth chart is different because we show the LarryTheGM Adjusted Rating for each player. This rating system accounts for both the inherent talent (as reflected by their recruiting rating) and their development as college players.

If you want to know more, check out the adjusted ratings article here.

In this article we will give you the depth chart for both UTSA and Texas and do some comparisons.

I used the depth charts as published here for UTSA

My Longhorns depth chart is the official one communicated by the team.

Here is my Adjusted Rating Depth Chart for UTSA:

Notice how much red there is on the UTSA depth. This is a Senior/ 4-year laden team. There are a lot of transfers. Some have familiar names from Texas. There are very few freshmen that are expected to contribute. They MIGHT be better than they have shown.

One note- the UTSA QB situation, as bad as it is, it light years better than Michigan's was last week.

Here is the depth chart for Texas updated with week2 development.

For the AR blue is good (think of blue chip) and green is bad or very inexperienced.

Here is my Adjusted Ratings based comparison of the offenses.

The Texas two deep offense:

  1. has 37% more experience

  2. is 18% more talented (by AR)

Here is my Adjusted Ratings based comparison of the defenses.

The Texas two deep defense:

  1. has 4% more experience- UTSA defense is very experienced too

  2. is 10% more talented (by AR)

This UTSA defense SHOULD be better than they have shown early in the season.

One interesting comp is to show the previous data we had with Michigan.

The UTSA offensive starters are not much worse than Michigan's starters. That may not be a complement. The depth is where UTSA really drops off. The Texas offense is in a completely different class than both.

The UTSA defense is better than its offense in this metric but is far worse than Texas and Michigan. Perhaps, it is easier to process as average Adjusted Rating star levels.

Texas beat Michigan by 19. Their advantages over Michigan were about 9 percent. Their advantages over UTSA are about 14 percent.

Let's assume that the point differential is twice the talent differential. That would say Texas wins by 28.

Folks, having the most talent and experience do not ALWAYS into wins but it sure helps. You may find yourself wanting this data Saturday during the game to help understand what you are seeing.

What does it all mean today? Who will win?

My line gaps method described to the Moneymakers here

predicts a 27-point Texas win. This method says 28-point Texas win.

Let's say Texas wins 38-10.

Welcome to my Texas UTSA Depth Chart Comparison. Please let me know what you think.
