Baseball is not a sport that lends itself to daily action. What I am doing here is nearly impossible. I am giving you the angle most can't see nor apply. THAT is part of what makes this site so unique.

Disclaimer 2- These articles are going to be blunt and reflect what the numbers say and NOT what I want nor what I hope happens. DO NOT get this confused. I am TRYING to help you in the fantasy baseball and daily fantasy space. I am not going to waste your time on what I want. I am going to tell you what the numbers say is most LIKELY.

You also may want to check out the Premium Astros Series Guide Data- Athletics- 5/13- 5/16 (larrythegm.com) for this series. This will be available at the lower premium price level and to all Patreon members. This article helps set the foundation for the revolutionary thing we do with that data to give you the MoneyMaker edge below.

The MoneyMaker Daily Lineup Analysis Data

This data will be set with the 2023 xwOBA data. We will consider updating to the 2024 current season data in June when there is enough of a database for it.

We focus the data on starters vs. the other team's lineups. League average wOBA 0.319.

Starting for the Astros- Framber Valdez vs. the Athletics

The Athletics have several players who do not have data yet in my database. Toro was hurt in 2023, Schuemann, Harris, and McCann are rookies.

Of the Athletics players I do have; they project as a team to hit 0.316 xwOBA today vs. the Valdez stats.

The Athletics best bet fantasy stars today are:

  • Rooker (0.371)- over 1.5 Total Bases (+140 on Bovada)

The runs model would project the Athletics to score 4.5 runs today if the starting pitcher was in the game for 9 innings.

Starting for the Athletics- Aaron Brooks vs. the Astros

Aaron Brooks is making his first appearance in the MLB since 2022. He is 34 years old, however. This makes his projection VERY hard.

I have done a projection adding 20% to his 2023-2024 MiLB stats in the top line for these tables.

vs. RHH

vs. LHH

His data is clearly better in 2024 than it is in 2023.

Here is the matchup table based on this hybrid data.

Here is the matchup table based only on the 2024 MiLB data.

So which version of Brooks will we get? Let's play it conservatively and assume the later, but my heart wants so bad to say the former hybrid data.

The Astros project as a team to hit 0.351 xwOBA today.

The Astros best bet fantasy stars today are:

  • Alvarez (0.484)- over 1.5 Total Bases (-120 on Bovada)- This qualifies as a LGM Pick of the Day

  • Tucker (0.401)- over 1.5 Total Bases (+110 on Bovada)

  • Diaz (0.380)- over 1.5 Total Bases (Not Listed on Bovada)- I don't like the odds on the other bets. I will update this if Diaz odds become available.

The runs model would project the Astros to score 5.7 runs today if the starting pitcher was in the game for 9 innings.

Let's have fun today Astros fans.
